'Top listed' drug trader killed in ‘gunfight’
A 'top listed' drug dealer was killed in a reported gunfight with Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) in Sonargaon upazila of Narayanganj early Wednesday.

The deceased was identified as Hridoy alias Gittu Hridoy, 30, a resident of Habibpur area under Mograpara union in the upazila. He was an accused in 17 cases, including of drugs, murder. 

Hridoy was number one criminal in drug dealers’ list of Sonargaon Police Station. Police earlier announced a reward of Tk 10,000 for his arrest.

RAB-11 additional superintendent of police Mashiur Rahman said, a patrol team of the elite force signaled a vehicle at a check-post in Chengrakandi area on the Dhaka-Chattogram highway. Denying the signal, the gang opened fire on the team, forcing the RAB personnel to fire back in self-defence.
Later, they found the bullet hit body of Hridoy on the spot.

A private car, a pistol, two bullets, 500 Yaba tablets, five lethal weapons were also recovered from the scene.

The elite force detained three people from the scene.

Two RAB men were also injured in the gunfight.
