‘Drug traders’ killed in ‘gunfight’
Two suspected drug dealers were killed in a reported gunfight with Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) in Teknaf upazila of Cox’s Bazar early Monday.

The deceased were identified as Abdur Rahman, 48, a resident of Baharchhara, and Omar Faruque, 35, of Khuniyapalang of Ramu.

Acting on information that a consignment of drug will smuggled through Marine Drive, a team of the elite force took position at Sabrang check post.

The team signaled a vehicle carrying drug traders on suspicion.

Then the gang opened fire on the RAB, forcing team to fire back that triggered a gunfight, said RAB-15 Teknaf Camp Company Commander Mirza Mahtab.

Later, the elite force found bullet-hit bodies of Abdur and Omar and sent them to Cox’s Bazar General Hospital morgue.

Around 300 bottles Phensedyl syrup, 4,000 Yaba tablets, a foreign pistol and four bullets were recovered from the spot.
