‘Rape accused’ killed in ‘gunfight’
A young man, accused in a rape case, was killed in a reported gunfight with Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) in Patiya upazila of Chattagram early Tuesday.
Deceased Arman, 25, was a resident of Maliyara village under Kusumpura union no:6.
Acting on information that Arman was staying in the village, a team of the elite force conducted a drive there around 1:45am to nab him.
Later, Arman died in exchange of fire with the team, said Kazi Tareq Aziz, RAB-7 assistant superintendent of Chattagram police.
The RAB sent the body to Chattagram Medical College Hospital morgue.
Seven bullets and an arms were recovered from the scene.
Arman violated an eighth grader on July 19.
