Suspected dacoit killed in 'gunfight'
A suspected dacoit was killed in a reported gunfight with police in Bera upazila of Pabna early Thursday.

Deceased Wali Ullah, 31, was a resident of Shanila Moholla in Bera municipality. He was an accused in nine cases, including robbery and drugs, filed with different Police Stations, said Shaheed Mahmud, officer in-charge of Bera Police Station.

Police detained Wali Ullah on Wednesday night.

A team of law enforcers conducted a drive alongwith Wali Ullah, who was detained earlier, at Jorda area around 3, the OC said.

Sensing presence of the team, Wali Ullah's cohorts opened fire on policemen, forcing them to fire back that triggered a gunfight, the OC said.

After the gunfight, police rescued bullet-hit Wali Ullah and took him to Bera Upazila Health Complex where he succumbed to his injury around 5:30am. 

The body was sent to Pabna General Hospital morgue.

Police recovered a pistol, six bullets and 17 bottles of Phensedyl syrup from the scene, the OC added.
