Rifat murder: Key accused Nayan Bond killed in ‘gunfight’
Nayan Bond, the key accused of Rifat Sharif murder in broad daylight, was killed in a reported gunfight here early on Tuesday (July 2).

After the brutal murder incident, he was absconding. 

Barguna police super Md Maruf Hossain confirmed the matter to media. 

He said three machetes, a pistol and three rounds of bullets were recovered from the spot.

Noyan Bond’s body has been sent to Barguna District Hospital for autopsy. 

Two persons allegedly involved in Rifat Sharif murder have given confessional statements in the court on Monday (July 1).

Barguna Senior Judicial Magistrate Court Judge Mohammad Sirajul Islam Gazi recorded the confessional statement around 6:30pm.

The duo who confessed in the court are – 11 no. accused Oli and Tanvir, who was identified through video footage of the killing incident. 

Later, the court ordered to send them to jail.

Besides, police produced Nazmul Hassan before the court after three days remand and sought five days remand again. Later, the court placed him on five-day fresh remand.

The court also placed Sagar and Saimun, two other suspects, on a five-day police remand for interrogation. 

Rifat Sharif was hacked to death in front of his wife by the listed drug dealer Nayan Bond and his companies on Wednesday (June 26).

Father of the victim Md. Abdul Halim Dulal filed a case against Nayan Bond and 12 of his companies alongside 5-6 unidentified persons with Barguna Sadar police station.

Earlier on June 30, Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan said seven persons have been arrested so far over Rifat murder case.
