Suspected drug dealers killed in gunfight
Two suspected drug traders were killed in a 'shootout' with police at Sabrang in Teknaf upazila of Cox's Bazar early Thursday.

The deceased were identified as Abdul Rashid, 47, son of Enam Sharif ,and Abul Kalam, 35, son of Abdur Rahman of the upazila.

With this, the number of deaths in anti-drugs crackdown stood at 260 across the country since May 12, 2018.

On secret information, a team of law enforcers conducted a drive in the area around 2am, said Pradeep Kumar Das, officer in-charge of Teknaf Police Station.

Sensing presence of the team, the criminal gang opened fire on police, prompting them to fire back for self-defense.

At one stage, Rashid and Kalam were caught in the line of fire and died on the spot.

Three policemen including SI Borhan Uddin were injured in the gun-battle.
