Suspected drug dealer killed in ‘gunfight’
A suspected drug trader was killed in a gun-battle between two gang at Dakhshin Lengurbil adjacent to the Bay of Bengal in Teknaf upazila of Cox's Bazar early Sunday.

The deceased was identified as Farid Alam, 30, son of Prokash Md Alam.

With this, the number of deaths in anti-drugs crackdown stood at 255 across the country since May 12.

Being informed about an exchange of fire between two gang of drug traders, a team of police conducted a drive in the area around 4am, Teknaf Model Police Station OC Pradip Kumar Das, said.

Sensing presence of the law enforcers, the drug traders fled the scene.

Later, police recovered the bullet-hit body of Farid from the scene.

Two locally-made arms and 10,000 Yaba pills were also recovered from the spot, the OC added.
