Drug peddler killed in Teknaf ‘gunfight’
A drug peddler was killed in a reported ‘gunfight’ with Rapid Action Battalion at North Shilkhali area of Teknaf upazila of the district on Tuesday night (July 2).

RAB-15 claimed two of its members were also injured in the gunfight.

The drug peddler Salimullah, 35, was a convicted criminal in a case filed over the seizure of two lakhs yaba pills, said RAB-15 Battalion Teknaf Camp Company Commander Mirza Shahed Mahtab.

On secret information, a team of RAB raided the area at night.  Fearing presence of law enforcers, Salimullah opened fire on them. In self defense, RAB retaliated, triggering a gun battle. At one stage, Salimullah was killed on the spot, said Mirza Shahed Mahtab.

A lot of bullets, weapons and yaba pills were seized from the spot. Dead body was sent to Cox’s Bazar Hospital morgue, said Mirza Shahed Mahtab.
