Rupnagar cylinder blast: Death toll rises to 7
The death toll from Wednesday's gas cylinder explosion in city's Rupnagar Residential Area rose to seven. 

Nihad, 8, son of Shoru Miah of Netrakona, succumbed to his injuries at the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) of Dhaka Medical College Hospital around 1am on Thursday. 

Rupnagar Police Station OC Abul Kalam Azad said they arrested balloon vendor Abu Sayeed at night from National Institute of Traumatology and Orthopaedic Rehabilitation where he was undergoing treatment.

Later, he was shifted to DMCH under police protection, the OC said.

The gas cylinder exploded when a vendor was inflating a balloon near Monipur School on road 11 at about 3:45pm on Wednesday, leaving five children dead on the spot and at least 20 people including children injured.

The deceased were identified as Ramjan, 8, Nupur, 7, daughter of trader Nur Alam, Shahin, 9, son of Shahjahan, Farzana, 6, daughter of rickshaw-puller Abu Taher, and Rubel, 10, son of rickshaw-puller Nur Alam.

Meanwhile, Riya, 10, daughter of Milon, was taken to the National Institute of Traumatology and Orthopaedic Rehabilitation where she succumbed to her injuries.
