Rajshahi College girl set on fire dies at DMCH
A college girl, who was set on fire in Rajshahi after coming out of police station, died at Dhaka Medical College Hospital on Wednesday (Oct 2) morning.

The deceased was identified as Liza Rahman, 18, daughter of Alam Mia and a class-XII student of Government Women’s College in Rajshahi and hailed from Gobindaganj upazila of Gaibandha.

She died while undergoing treatment at the hospital. Dhaka Medical College Hospital Director Brigadier General AKM Nasir Uddin confirmed the matter to Banglanews. 

Meanwhile, an investigation has been started into the college student suicide attempt by setting fire on her coming out of the police station. A probe team of the National Human Rights Commission visited the scene on Tuesday (October 1) noon. The delegation is now staying in Rajshahi to investigate the incident.

The four-member committee, headed by Human Rights Commission Director Al Mahmud Faizul Kabir, has been asked submit the inquiry report within the next seven business days.

On September 28, Liza, also the wife of Shakhawat Hossain of Nachol in Chapainawabganj, set herself on fire near Shah Makhdum police station following a dispute with her husband. 

The college girl was immediately taken to Rajshahi Medical College Hospital and then shifted to DMCH. She had suffered 63 per cent burns.
