PM mourns death of Nusrat
Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina expressed deep shock at the death of Sonagazi madrasha student Nusrat Jahan Rafi.
The 18-year-girl, who was set on fire on April 6, succumbed to her burn injuries at Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) around 9:30pm Wednesday (April 11).
Sheikh Hasina prayed for eternal peace of the departed soul and conveyed profound sympathy to the bereaved family.
Earlier, the premier directed health authorities to ensure best possible treatment for Nusrat.
On April 6, a group of masked youths loyal to Feni’s Sonagazi Islamia Senior Fazil Madrasha principal Sirajuddoula took Nusrat to a rooftop and set her on fire in their bid to kill her.
The heinous incident occurred days after Nusrat’s mother on March 28 filed a case against Sirajuddoula on charge of harassing the girl sexually on March 27.
Nusrat was kept on life support at DMCH since April 8.
