Minor girl raped by ‘imam’ in Savar
A nine-year-old girl was raped reportedly by the imam of a mosque in Ashulia near the capital on Sunday, reports UNB.
Abdul Al Mamun, imam of Baitul Mamun Jame Mosque at Dosaid, used to teach the victim Arabic at the mosque, police said.
After giving her lesson on Sunday morning, the imam took the girl to his room and violated her.
He also recorded the shameful act in his mobile phone and threatened to kill the girl if she disclosed it. However, the victim narrated the incident to her parents.
Meanwhile, the imam went into hiding after the matter came to light.
Officer-in-charge of Ashulia Police Station Sheikh Rizaul Haque Dipu said the victim was sent to Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) for medical test and they were trying to arrest the offender.
