PK Halder had 70-80 girlfriends, transferred crores of taka with their accounts: ACC

The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) has detected the lender accounts of 70 to 80 'girlfriends' of absconding former NRB Global Bank managing director Prashanta Kumar Halder or PK Halder who allegedly embezzled and laundered some Tk 3,600 crore from the country.
"PK Halder transferred crores of taka to these bank accounts [of his 'girlfriends'] from his company," said ACC lawyer Md Khurshid Alam Khan on Sunday. "If it is found in investigation that PK Halder's girlfriends received the amount of money, they will also be made accused."
Khurshid Alam Khan said the problem would be referred to the investigation officer (IO) concerned for necessary steps, it would be raised at the High Court through the next date.
Asked who the girlfriends were, the ACC legal professional said: "I don't want to reveal the names at this time, because they will be investigated."
He said an arrest warrant was already delivered to the Interpol through the home ministry to arrest PK Halder.
In November, the ACC has taken an initiative to issue arrest warrant through the Interpol against PK Halder.
The commission has initiated the proceed to issue the arrest warrant against PK Halder through the National Counter Bureau of Interpol in Dhaka.
