ECNEC okays Tk 3,089.97cr Meghna River Bank protection project
The federal government on Tuesday gave go-ahead to a Tk 3,089.97 crore Meghna river bank protection project looking to protect erosion prone areas and establishments at Ramgati and Kamalnagar upazilas in Laxmipur district.

The approval originated from a gathering of the Executive Committee of the National Economic Council (ECNEC) held on Tuesday using its Chairperson and Primary Minister Sheikh Hasina in the chair. 

She joined the meeting virtually from her official Ganabhaban home while ministers, condition ministers, planning commission members and secretaries concerned attended the meeting from the NEC Meeting Bedroom in city’s Sher-e-Bangla Nagar area.

Bangladesh Water Development Plank beneath the Ministry of Water Methods will implement the Riverbank security of Meghna at Borokheri and Ludhuabazar in Ramgoti and Kamalnagar upazilas and Kaderpanditer Hut under Laxmipur district with Taka 3,089.97 crore by June 2025 with entire federal government fund, he said.

Besides, a total of nine projects were approved today involving a standard estimated cost of Taka 5,239.62 crore, said Setting up Minister MA Mannan while briefing reporters after the meeting.
