4 suspected forest robbers killed in Sundarbans gunfight
Four ' forest robbers' were killed in a gunfight with Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) members in the Sundarbans in Koyra upazila of Khulna on Tuesday morning.
Two of the deceased were identified as 'Aminur Bahini' chief Aminur and his second-in-command Rafique.
The gang opened fire on a team of the elite force while they were patrolling in the deep forest this morning, forcing them to fire back that triggered a gunfight, said Lt Col Syed Mohammad Nurus Salehin Yusuf, commander of RAB-6.
Later, the team recovered four bullet-hit bodies from the scene.
Three firearms and some cartridges were also recovered, Salehin said.
