2 ‘listed Yaba traders’ killed in ‘gunfight’
Two ‘listed Yaba traders’ were killed in a reported gunfight with police in hilly area near Parjatan Bazar in Teknaf upazila of Cox's Bazar early Saturday.

The deceased were identified as Ahmed Hossain, 45, a resident of Ghona area of Hatiya in Teknaf Sadar union and Abdur Rahman, 46, of Block: D in Noyapara Rohingya Camp. Six drug cases were filed against the duo, police said.

Teknaf Police Station officer in-charge Pradip Kumar Das said a team of police went to the area alongwith the drug dealers, who were arrested earlier, to recover Yaba pills and arms. 

Sensing their presence, the cohorts of the nabbed drug traders opened fire on the law enforcers around 1:30 am, forcing the team to fire back that left Ahmed and Abdur injured with bullet, the OC added.

They were taken to Teknaf Upazila Health Complex and, later, shifted to Cox’s Bazar Sadar Hospital where the on-duty doctors declared them dead.

The bodies were kept at the hospital morgue.

The police recovered four bullets and 5,000 Yaba tablets from the scene.

Three police personnel were also injured in the gunfight.
