Two drug peddlers held from Shyamoli with yaba pills, cash
Two drug peddlers, along with forged bank notes, cash and yaba tablets were arrested from Shyamoli area in Dhaka on Tuesday.
Rapid Action Battalion (RAB-2) arrested Babul Akond alias Halu, 35 and Sumon alias Kamal, 38, along with 2,475 yaba pills, 1000 forged notes and cash Tk 18 lakh from their possessions.
RAB-2 assistant director Zahid Ahsan said functioning on a tip-off, Babul was initially arrested and Tk 18 lakh and two forged notes were seized from his possession. His accomplice Sumon was taken up to Suhrawardy Hospital and examined there. During the examination, something was detected in his abdomen. After he was forced to swallow something, as much as 55 packets wrapped with polythene were presented of his abdomen. In those packets, 2,475 yaba pills were found.
Zahid Ahsan said accused Babul may be the sone of Shahe Alam Majhi of Ilisha pourasava under Bhola Sadar upazila in Bhola district. He lives at Jhaulahati area in Kamrangirchar of Dhaka. On the other hand, Sumon is the son of Shajahan Sardar of Muladi police station in Barisal district. He lives at Chunkutia in Keraniganj. They have always been involved with drug trading.
Legal action has been taken against the two drug peddlers, he said.
