Teenager beaten to death in Dhaka
A 17-year-old boy was reportedly beaten to death in Dakshinkhan area of the capital city Friday (August 31).
Police detained two persons, for interrogating over the incident.
According to Dakshinkhan thana police, Mehedi lived here back in the days. He was student of a local school. He moved to his village home in Patuakhali a year ago.
Recently, he came to visit one of his friends Nazmul Islam’s residence in Anarbag area. Nazmul and his friends had a dispute with a local group of adolescents, over maintaining senior-junior terms.
A clash ensued among the two groups near KC Hospital area of Dakshinkhan, around 6:15pm. Mehedi there accompanied Nazmul and got beaten by the opponents.
At one stage, he fell unconscious.
He was rescued and whisked-off to Kurmitola General Hospital where the on-duty physician pronounced him dead.
Mehedi’s family members have been informed. A case will be filed once they arrive, said Dakshinkhan Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Tapan Chandra Saha.
Police have kept the drives on to nab the persons involved in the murder.
Two detainees were being quizzed about the incident, added the OC.
However, the body was sent to Shaheed Suhrawardy Medical College and Hospital for an autopsy.
