Swiss President Berset due in Dhaka at noon

DHAKA: Switzerland President Alain Berset is expected to arrive in Dhaka on Sunday (February 4) on a four-day official visit to Bangladesh.

Rohingya issue would get importance apart from various bilateral issues between Bangladesh-Switzerland.

During the visit, the Swiss President will visit the Rohingya refugee camps in Cox’s Bazar, said a Foreign Ministry official.

President Abdul Hamid will welcome Alain Berset at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport and host a dinner party in honor of his Swiss counterpart. 

However, the Swiss President is expected to hold meeting with President Abdul Hamid and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.

Some instruments between Bangladesh-Switzerland would be inked.

Foreign Minister AH Mahmood Ali will pay a courtesy call on him, at Sonargaon hotel in the evening.

The Swiss President is expected to visit the Kutupalong Rohingya camps in Cox’s Bazar Tuesday (February 6).

However, this is the first occasion that any Swiss President will visit Bangladesh.
