Bangladesh and Indonesia on Sunday signed five instruments, including two memorandums of understanding (MoUs), aiming to enhance bilateral relations, trade and investment, and boosting cooperation in different sectors between the two countries, reports UNB.

The instruments were inked in presence of visiting Indonesian president Joko Widodo and Bangladesh prime minister Sheikh Hasina after the official talks between the two countries at the Prime Minister's Office.

Commerce minister Tofail Ahmed and trade minister of  Indonesia Enggartiasto Lusitania signed the joint ministerial statement on launching negotiations for Bangladesh-Indonesia preferential trade agreement for the respective sides.

The MoU on the establishment of foreign office consultations was signed by foreign minister AH Mahmood Ali and Indonesian foreign minister Retno Marsudi.

The MoU on development of the integrated gas infrastructure and independent power producer was signed by chairman of Bangladesh Power Development Board Khaled Mahmud and vice president of Power, New and Renewable Energy, Partamina, Indonesia Ginandjar Sofyan.

Fisheries and livestock Minister Narayan Chandra Chanda and Indonesian foreign minister Retno Marsudi penned the Joint Communique on cooperation to combat illegal, unreported and unregulated fishing and promote sustainable fisheries governance.

Secretary of Petro Bangla Syed Ashfaquzzaman and vice president of Pertamina Wiko Migantoro signed the MoU on letter intent between Petro Bangla and Partamina on sales and purchase of LNG Under G2G.
