Stop selling antibiotics without prescription: HC to govt
The High Court (HC) on Thursday ordered the government to take steps in selling antibiotics without registered doctors' prescriptions and proper medical supervision.
The court also gave directives to the Director General of drug Administration to asks civil surgeon and deputy commissioner of all districts to publish circulars in this regard withing two days of getting the order.
An HC bench of Justice Sheikh Hasan Arif and Justice Rajik-Al Jalil passed the order with a rule after the primary hearing of a public interest petition.
The rule asked why the sale of antibiotics without proper supervision and prescription should not be declared illegal.
Earlier on Wednesday, Supreme Court lawyer Sayedul Haque Suman filed the petition seeking HC directives on the authorities concerned to ban selling of antibiotics without prescription and proper medical supervision.
