Green Line owner asked to compensate Russel by this afternoon
The High Court has asked Green Line Paribahan's owner to give some portion of the compensation by this (Wednesday) afternoon to Russell Sarkar, who lost his left leg after being hit by a bus of that company on Mayor Mohammad Hanif Flyover in Dhaka's Jatrabari.
An HC bench of Justice FRM Nazmul Ahasan and Justice KM Kamrul Kader passed the order today.
"Give compensation as much as you can afford within 3:00pm. Then, come before court, the court will pass its opinion regarding this," the HC bench asked the Green Line Paribahan owner.
On April 4, the same bench gave the bus company time till April 10 to pay Tk 50 lakh to Russell Sarkar.
The court also ordered the company to submit a compliance report on that day.
It warned that the transport group cannot sell it's tickets for April 11 if fails to pay the money within the stipulated time.
Green Line Paribahan cannot sell tickets on April 11 if it does not pay Tk 50 lakh compensation to Russel Sharker by April 10, the High Court passed the order today.
Earlier on the same day, the High Court also summoned the Green Line Paribahan manager to appear before it by 2.00 pm to explain why the compensation has yet been paid to Russell Sarkar.
Green Line's General Manger Abdus Sattar appeared before the HC around 2:00pm following summon.
