RU students protest against Jhigatola attacks
The students of Rajshahi University brought out a silent procession on the campus protesting against Saturday's attacks on school and college students in Dhaka's Jhigatola during their demonstrations demanding safe roads, reports UNB.

Witnesses said, the students of RU brought out a silent procession on the campus in the morning.

Besides, the teachers of RU under the banner of 'Teachers against repression' brought out a silent procession and joined the students expressing solidarity.

The RU students also blocked Dhaka-Rajshahi Highway at Talaimari road around 11:00am, disrupting traffic movement.

Meanwhile, students of Rajshahi University of Engineering and Technology (RUET) on Sunday blocked Dhaka-Rajshahi highway demanding safe road, halting vehicular movement on the busy road.

Witnesses said several hundred students of RUET with placards and festoons took to the street in front of the campus around 10:30 am in a bid to express solidarity with the students agitation programme in Dhaka and chanted slogans saying 'We want to do peaceful movement, safe road and safety of our life'.

They also formed a human chain by standing both sides of the highway demanding safe road.

Later, the students urged all to refrain from attack on students and refrain from paying any heed to rumours during the movement.

Traffic movement on the busy road remained suspended for nearly four hours following the incident.
