Transport workers block Dhaka-Ctg highway; beat up students
A long tailback of vehicles was created on the Dhaka-Chattogra highway on Wednesday following a barricade that was put up by transport workers protesting damage of vehicles by students and demanding their safety.
Workers blockade the highway in Sign Board area under Siddhirganj of Narayanganj at about 8:30am.
They attacked school and college goers at about 11:30am, alleged students.
The workers said vehicular movement would remain halted until their security is ensured.
Monirul Islam, additional Superintendent in Narayanganj police, said tranport workers said they would life the barricade once their safety is ensured.
