Quota reformists demand 20pc of budget for education
Quota reformists demanded 20 percent allocation of total budget in education sectors, forming a cell to check question paper leak, stopping evening courses in public universities and reducing BCS Viva voce number to 50 from 200.
They came up with the demands in a manifesto titled ‘Youths Think about Manifesto-2018’ with 45 points demand to hand over to political parties ahead of the upcoming national election scheduled to be held on December 30.
Bangladesh General Students Protection Council announced their manifesto at a function held at the Professor Muzaffar Ahmed Chowdhury Auditorium of Dhaka University in the morning on Monday.
Other points included in the manifesto are- the result of BCS Preliminary, written and viva of BCS should be published with marks within 10 days of preliminary exam and after 90 days of written exams.
Introduction of ‘One Desk Service’ to reduce administrative tangle, abolishing quota in
class-3 and class-4 categories of jobs, creating facility to apply for free in job recruitment tests, introducing combined admission tests system at all universities, arranging students council elections in every year and forming youth assembly— were other important points of their demand.
Platform convener Hasan Al Mamun, join conveners Rashed Khan, Faruk Hossain, Nurul Huq, among others, were present at the function.
Later, they submitted their set of demands to the offices of Bangladesh Awami League (BAL), Bangladesh Nationalists Party (BNP), Jatiyo Oikyafront, Jatiya Party, Ganoforum, Nagorik Oikya and Islami Adndolon Bangladesh.
