Countrywide indefinite blockade called for FF quota
Muktijoddha Mancho spokesperson and Dhaka University Professor AKM Jamaluddin has called an indefinite blockade across the country demanding the restoration of 30 percent Freedom Fighters (FF) quota in public services.
He made the announcement from a rally organized by Muktijoddha Mancho in Shahbagh on Saturday (Oct 6).
Jamaluddin said the strike will be effective from today on road, water and railway routes and continue till our demand is realized.
Urging the children of freedom fighters across the country to observe the blockade, he said, “You must continue to observe the blockade till the 30 percent FF quota in government jobs is being reinstated.”
The government has cancelled the quota system in public service recruitment following massive protest organized by students and job seekers demanding to reform the existing system. Recently the cabinet has approved a recommendation for scrapping quota and Ministry of Public Administration issued gazette notification.
However, this move sparked a counter protest among quota seekers and children of freedom fighters. Protesters under the banner of ‘Muktijoddha Sangsad Sontan Command’ started demonstration in Shahbagh calling for a restoration of the 0 percent quota for the family members of Freedom Fighters in public service government jobs.
