Large fire at Mohakhali Sattala slum burns downward many shanties
A massive fire that broke away at  Sattala slum in city's Mohakhali area morning hours on Monday burned downwards several hundreds shanties.

Fire Program and Civil Defence control area options said the blaze started in the slum around 4am and soon engulfed the entire area.

On information, four fire fighting products rushed to the scene and started working.

Later, 14 more systems joined the rescue procedure.

Eighteen fire fighting units with the help of police, RAB and slum dwellers took control over the flame around 7am.

While briefing media today, Brig Mohammad Sazzad Hossain, Director General of the Fire Program, said the fire might have originated from a power brief circuit or any against the law gas connection.

 “There’re many tin-roofed residences in the slum …that’s why the firefighters acquired to struggle a whole lot in putting out the fire. More than 100 shanties had been gutted,” he said.

Replying to a query, Brig Sazzad explained, "The fire spread as a result fast as a result of existence of explosive chemicals in the slum."

There was no report of any casualty in the fire.

The extent of harm cannot be known yet.
