DU ‘Gha’ unit retaken entry test held peacefully
The retaken admission test of ‘Gha’ unit of Dhaka University (DU) for the first year honours courses under Social Science Faculty for 2018-19 academic session was held on Friday peacefully.

The one-hour test was held from 3:00pm to 4:0pm at 19 centres inside the university campus. A total of 18,463 students, who passed the admission test earlier held on October 12, sat for the retake against the 1,615 seats.

Meanwhile, About 20 minutes before the exam, some candidates faced obstacle while entering the exam centers through the main gate of the Arts faculty of the university that caused chaotic environment, and at one stage, part of the gate was damaged for scuffling among students. 

Witnesses said, on duty police officers obstructed some students while they were entering the exam center about 15 minutes before the exam started, and the candidates entered the exam center forcefully which created a scuffle injuring a candidate. 

Question papers of the test were taken back from the candidates after the exam. This year, question was very hard that is why some students were seen crying while coming out of the exam centers.   

Regarding taking back question papers of the exam, coordinator Prof Sadeka Halim said that from now question papers of the admission tests would be taken back after ending the exams. The decision was taken by the admission coordination committee. 

Proctor Prof AKM Golam Rabbani said the exam was held peacefully with the support of law enforces and also university took ‘zero tolerance’ policy regarding digital forgery. 

Earlier, DU Vice-chancellor Prof Md. Akhtaruzzaman, Pro-VC (Administration) Prof Muhammad Samad, Treasurer Prof Md Kamal Uddin, Dean of the Social Science faculty, also Coordinator of ‘Gha’ unit admission test Prof Sadeka Halim and Proctor Prof AKM Golam Rabbani visited different examination centres of the university.
