DNCC drive to free roads, footpaths from Sep 22
The Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC) will start an eviction drive from September 22 to free roads and footpaths from illegal encroachment.
DNCC Mayor Atiqul Islam made the announcement at a meeting at the Nagar Bhaban of Gulshan-2 on Tuesday.
“No-one will be allowed to run businesses occupying roads and footpaths,” he said.
The eviction drive will begin from the streets and footpaths under Zone-1 of DNCC, Atiqul said. The drive will be eventually extended to other parts of DNCC.
Atiqul urged all to join them and free the footpaths from encroachers.
He warned that action will be taken against those who have blocked roads and footpaths with construction materials.
The DNCC mayor urged everyone to help free the illegally occupied footpaths and roads before the eviction drive.
Dhaka Metropolitan Police Commissioner Shafiqul Islam said they will cooperate with DNCC to remove the illegal establishments.
Among others, Akbar Hossain Pathan (Farooque), MP, Md. Elias Uddin Mollah, MP, DNCC Chief Executive Officer Md Abdul Hye, Chief Estate Officer Aminul Islam, Ward councillors and senior DMP officials, among others, were present.
