DNCC councilor Rajib sent to jail after remand
DNCC ward councilor Tarequzzaman Rajib was sent to jail after fourteen days of remand in two cases.
Abu Sayeed, judge of a Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate court gave the order on Monday (November 4) as Investigation Officer (IO) of the cases produced him before the court, after completion of remand period, pleading to send him to jail.
Rajib, councilor of ward-33, was joint general secretary at Jubo League’s Dhaka north unit.
Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) detained him from a house under Vatara thana in an anti-graft drive on the night of Oct 19.
Tarequzzaman Rajib was expelled from Jubo League hours after RAB arrested him on charges of extortion and land grabbing.
RAB filed two cases under arms and narcotics acts with Vatara thana on October 20.
