DNCC councillor Rajib placed on 14-day remand
A Dhaka court has placed Tarequzzaman Rajib, a councillor of Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC), on a 14-day remand in two cases.
Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Yasmin Ara passed the remand order around 12:10am on Monday after police produced Rajib before it around 11:30pm on Sunday seeking 20 days' to take him in custody for interrogation.
The court granted seven days' remand in drug case and another seven days' in arms case.
Rapid Action Battalion filed the two cases with Bhatara Police Station against Rajib on Sunday night and handed him over to the Police Station.
A team of the RAB arrested Rajib, the councillor of ward-33, from a house in city's Bashundhara Residential Area during a raid on Saturday night.
Seven bottles of foreign liquor, a pistol, three bullets and Tk 33,000 in cash were recovered from the house.
Hours after Rajib was arrest, he was expelled from the post of joint general secretary of Dhaka North unit Jubo League.
