Information Minister Dr Hasan Mahmud on Saturday said there are questions among people whether BNP and others, who also raised different allegations found in meetings and seminars over Padma Bridge, are actually frustrated or ashamed as the engineering of the bridge features almost completed.

“The countrymen are happy as the Padma Bridge is nearly completed. Now they (people) have a issue whether BNP and others are ashamed or frustrated over the bridge,” he advised journalists at his official residence in the city’s Mintu Highway.

Earlier, the minister addressed a seminar through online platform organized simply by Chattogram District Administration titled ‘Jodio Manchi Duratho, Tobuo Achi Sangjuktha’ (We remain connected though maintaining distance).

Chattogram Deputy Commissioner (DC) Ilias Hossain presided above the seminar.

Hasan said, in the beginning, the World Lender had raised a great allegation of corruption above the Padma Bridge task though the bank didn’t disburse a single penny. In those days, BNP, different research agencies and economists had likewise raised different allegations along with the World Lender about Padma Bridge and they does everything what they could, he added.

Hasan said the BNP chief told the persons that Awami League cannot construct the bridge or perhaps regardless if they can, no person might cross the bridge. Hence, the persons have a question now - in which approach BNP will cross the bridge, he added.
