BNP decides never to join Union Parishad elections
BNP secretary basic Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir has said they get together would not take part in Union Parishad elections in the future. This Election Commission isn't qualified to carry out any election in a neutral, free and good manner, he said.

The BNP secretary general built the comment at a press conference at its chairperson’s Gulshan office in Dhaka on Sunday. Your choice was considered at a virtual conference of the party’s standing committee kept on Saturday.

He said, “The naked interference of the federal government found in recently held by-elections of varied Upazila Parishads and municipal elections and the extreme failure of the Election Commission found in holding good elections were strongly condemned in the BNP Position Committee meeting.”

Fakhrul continued saying, “BNP has made a decision to participate in the neighborhood government elections in deal with of extreme adversity seeing as the party believes in democracy. But the recent elections possess proved that Election Commission isn't qualified to carry out any election in a neutral, free and reasonable manner. Their main job is to put into practice the agenda of this unelected government.”

The BNP has always opposed party nominations in municipality elections, said Fakhrul adding that in this dire situation, BNP has didn't participate in the forthcoming Union Parishad elections.

Mirza Fakhrul said, “Law enforcement had deliberately attacked Chhatra Dal’s rally at the National Press Golf club today. The government has curtailed freedom of expression through Digital Protection Act. This law must be repealed immediately.”

Standing Committee customers Khandaker Mosharraf Hossain, Barrister Jamiruddin Sircar, Mirza Abbas, Gayeshwar Chandra Roy, Dr Abdul Moin Khan, Nazrul Islam Khan, Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir, Amir Khasru Mahmud Chowdhury, Begum Selima Rahman and Iqbal Hasan Mahmud had been present in the virtual meeting.
