Peaceful voting in CCC polls underway
The voting in Chattogram City Corporation (CCC) started out around 8am on Wednesday at 735 polling centres under 41 wards.

A large number of voters were experienced standing in queues at some centres from the very morning. 

A complete of 735 presiding officers, 4,886 assistants presiding officers and 9,772 polling officers are performing their respective duties.

Meanwhile, 14,370 members of law enforcement agencies including 25 platoons of BGB, 41 RAB teams, 140 teams of striking forces and 410 mobile teams have been  deployed prior to the election.

The voting, that was postponed 10 months ago because of COVID-19 pandemic, will continue till 4am without the break.

A total of 19,38,706 voters of the Chattogram City Corporation are anticipated to case their votes through EVM machines to elect a mayor, 41 general councilors and 14 reserved councilors.

Seven mayoral prospects are contesting in the election. They happen to be Rezaul Karim Chowdhury (Awami League), Dr. Shahadat Hossain (BNP), Wahed Murad (Islamic Front Bangladesh), MA Matin (Bangladesh Islami Front), Jannatul Islam (Islami Andolan Bangladesh), Abul Manjur (Peoples Party) and Khokhan Chowdhury (Trinamul NDM).
