Voting to 29 municipalities begins
Fifth phase elections to 29 municipalities under 20 districts commenced on Sunday.

The voting, which has been held using electronic voting machines (EVMs), started at 8am and can continue till 4pm.

More members of police, Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) and Border Guard of Bangladesh (BGB) have already been deployed on the voting areas.

A complete of 100 individuals are contesting for the post of mayor in the municipalities, 1,318 in the overall wards and 366 in the reserved wards.

These municipalities have 637 polling stations and 4,323 polling booths.

Some 14 lakh 14 thousand 297 voters including 7 lakh 7 thousand 775 males and 7 lakh 27 thousand 297 females are anticipated to cast their votes.
