7-day lockdown begins on Satkhira to contain spread of COVID-19
A week-much time lockdown in Satkhira district started out on Saturday following a sudden spike in Covid-19 cases.

Your choice has been taken up to break the chain of coronavirus transmission after the positivity rate in the district was found to be 53 percent, officials said today.

Through the week-long lockdown, almost all modes of public transfer will remain off the roads. Nevertheless, emergency offerings are out of the order.

Though kitchen markets will be permitted to operate from 9 am till 12 noon daily, different shops and markets will remain closed.

Activities in Satkhira Bhomra Land Slot will continue for small time, from 8 am to 2 pm, but the shops and marketplaces in the area will remain closed.

UNB reports, on Fri, two ladies, who were undergoing treatment at Satkhira Medical University and Medical center for Covid, succumbed to the virus, while three extra persons with corona symptoms also died the same evening.

In line with the administration officials, even more Covid cases have already been detected in 3 upazilas -- Sadar, Kalaroa and Kaliganj -- bordering India. The contamination is increasing in other upazilas too.
