Govt to increase strict lockdown for another week
The government has decided to extend the ongoing countrywide lockdown for another week as Covid-19 infection continues to be on the rise.

The decision was used a gathering on Monday.

Earlier, the national technical advisory committee on the coronavirus recommended extending the ongoing lockdown for another week to regulate the spread of the deadly virus in the united states.

The committee made the recommendation at its virtual meeting, headed by its Chairman Prof Md Sahidullah, on Sunday night.

The panel suggested reviewing the rate of infections ahead of ending the lockdown.

A plan should be designed to lift the lockdown gradually, the committee said.

Previously, NTAC recommended a complete lockdown for at least fourteen days. The government has already announced a one-week lockdown from April 14 and the committee expressed satisfaction over that.

The country yesterday (April 18) recorded 102 deaths from Covid-19 within the last 24 hours, the highest single-day death toll reported in the country. With the most recent figure, the amount of total fatalities now stands at 10,385.

Besides, 3,698 people have tested positive for coronavirus within the last 24 hours raising the full total number of coronavirus cases in the country to 718,950.
