2 'BCL men' killed in gunfight
Two 'Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL) activists' were killed in a shootout with police in Bakchora intersection of Satkhira district town early Saturday.
Deceased Mamunur Islam Dwip, was a resident of Munsipara area of the town, and Saiful Islam, of Saihati village in Kaliganj upazila.
Mostafizur Rahman, superintendent of Satkhira police, claimed the deceased were listed criminals. The duo were accused in number of cases.
Sources said Dwip and Saiful were BCL men.
Earlier, Detective Branch (DB) pf district police and Kaliganj police arrested Saiful and Dwip.
According to their confessional statement, a police team alongwith the duo conducted a drive in Bakchora intersection at early hours to recover arms.
Sensing the presence of the law enforcers, cohorts of Dwip and Saiful opened fire on the policemen to snatch away the duo, forcing them to fire back that triggered a gunfight.
Police, later, rescued bullet-injured Saiful and Dwip from the scene. But they died on way to a local hospital.
