Youth killed found in Teknaf 'gunfight'
A youth was killed in a reported gunfight between police personnel and drug traders in Teknaf upazila of Cox's Bazar in Tuesday night. 

The deceased was recognized as Khorshed Alam, 22, son of Haji Golam Hossain from Mithapanirchhara area of Teknaf. 

Teknaf Model law enforcement station Officer-in-Demand (OC) Md Hafizur Rahman said: "The incident occurred whenever a team of police was time for station after detaining one Shamsul Alam, who was simply accused in 11 drug cases, from Rajarchhara spot."

As the police crew reached Mithapanirchhara area, some associates of the detainee setup a road block and completed an armed attack in a bid to snatch Shamsul from police custody, the OC claimed. 

Police customers opened fire on the attackers in self-defence which then triggered a good shootout. At one level, Khorshed got caught at risk of fire and killed at that moment while three police males were as well injured, he stated, adding that the deceased youth was accused in two situations. 

Meanwhile, deceased's brother Nurul Alam said: "After getting facts that Shamsul Alam was detained simply by several people, we rushed to the spot. As we had been approaching the scene, several gunshots had been fired abruptly towards us from an auto-rickshaw departing Khorshed Alam harmed with bullet-wound. He died on way to a healthcare facility."
