'Yaba trader' killed in Teknaf ‘gunfight’
A suspected Yaba trader was killed in a reported gunfight with the members of Border Safeguard Bangaladesh (BGB) in Teknaf upazila of Cox’s Bazar on Saturday night.

The deceased was a Myanmar national. He found Bangladesh a decade ago and began living here in Naityangpara spot under ward no: 1 of Teknaf.

On facts that a big consignment of Yaba from Myanmar will enter Bangladesh, a workforce of BGB conducted a get in Keari Canal region at night.

Sensing the existence of the crew, the gang opened up fire on BGB associates, forcing them to fire back self-defence.

The team, soon after, found a bullet-injured man in the spot and took him to Teknaf Upazila Health and wellbeing Complex.

Pursuing deterioration of his health, this individual was shifted to Cox’s Bazar Sadar Hospital where this individual died.

A pistol, a bullet and 40,000 pieces of Yaba tablets worth around Tk 1,20,00,000 were recovered from the spot.
