Why Rana Plaza owner’s bail shouldn’t be stayed, asks HC
The High Court on Mon issued a rule asking why the bail of Rana Plaza owner Sohel Rana in a case filed over illegally amassing wealth shouldn't be cancelled.
At the same time, the bench of Justice Md Nazrul Islam Talukder and Justice Ahmed Sohel as well stayed Rana’s bail granted by the subordinate court before rule is resolved.
Md Khurshid Alam represented the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) while Deputy Attorney Standard AKM Amin Uddin Manik stood for the status. Md Alamgir Hossain represented Rana.
Alam said a special judge’s courtroom granted the Rana Plaza owner bail on May 17. After a virtual hearing on an ACC charm on June 8, the High Courtroom stayed the bail buy.
Rana are the owners of Rana Plaza, a multi-storey construction which collapsed found in April 2013, killing in least 1,134 people, mostly readymade garment workers.
The ACC accused him of amassing Tk 2.54 crore illegally in a case filed with Savar police.
