Textbook on nephrology unveiled at BSMMU
A textbook on nephrology has been unveiled for the undergraduate and post-graduate students of the nephrology department with an objective of reducing dependency on foreign books.
Dr Muhammad Nazrul Islam, associate professor of the Bangabandhu Sheikh Medical University's (BSMMU) Nephrology Department wrote the textbook titled 'Principles and Practice of Nephrology'.
Kidney Foundation President Prof Harun-ur-Rashid has unveiled the book at a function at BSMMU recently, said a press release.
BSMMU Pro-Vice Chancellor Prof Rafiqul Alam, and Prof Shahana Akhter Rahman, Prof Shahidullah Sikder and senior teachers of the BSMMU’s Nephrology Department were present at the launching function.
Nazrul said kidney diseases are highly prevalent across the globe, including Bangladesh, and the students of Bangladesh in this field depend on foreign books for lack of available books written by Bangladeshi authors.
“That’s why I took an initiative to publish a book on nephrology for our students,” he added.
