Rifat murder: Rabbi confesses, Hridoy on remand
Rafiul Islam Rabbi on Wednesday (July 10) confessed his direct involvement in killing Rifat Sharif in Barguna sadar in broad daylight.
The court of Barguna Senior Judicial Magistrate later sent him to jail.
The same court placed another accused Hridoy alias Tiktok Hridoy on remand for five days.
Rifat Sharif murder case investigation officer also Barguna sadar police station officer-in-charge (OC, Investigation) Humayun Kabir confirmed the matter to Banglanews.
22-year-old Rifat Sharif from Barguna sadar upazila was allegedly hacked indiscriminately by his wife Ayesha Siddiqa Minni's alleged former husband Noyon Bond and aides in broad daylight in front of Barguna Government College June 26 morning.
A video of the brutal attack went viral on the social media, triggering widespread outrage as several bystanders was closely looking the incident but didn't come to protect the victim.
Rifat succumbed to injuries while undergoing treatment at Sher-e-Bangla Medical College Hospital, Barishal in the afternoon.
The victim's father Abdul Halim Dulal accused 12 persons including Nayan Bond and unnamed six to seven others in a case filed with Barguna Police Station.
Nayan Bond, the key accused of the case, was killed in a reported gunfight with police in Barguna sadar upazila on July 2.
