Papul stripped of JS membership
Lakshmipur-2 lawmaker Shahid Islam Papul has been stripped of his Jatiya Sangsad (JS) membership.
The parliament has declared the seat of Lakshmipur 2 constituency vacant following Papul's conviction for human being trafficking and money laundering by a court in Kuwait.

Papul’s parliament membership have been revoked based on the Constitution’s Article 66, regarding to it.
Article 66 provides a person will be disqualified for election seeing that, or for being, an associate of parliament who offers been, on conviction for a good criminal offence involving moral turpitude, sentenced to imprisonment for a good term of no less than two years, unless an interval of five years features elapsed since his release.
Papul was arrested found in Kuwait in June this past year in cases linked to people trafficking, residency visa trading and funds laundering. He was sent to prison there.
A Kuwait courtroom on January 28 sentenced him to four years’ jail for human trafficking and funds laundering.
On June 9, 2020, the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) in Bangladesh served notices to MP Papul and his family, seeking their riches statements.
