Papia, her husband indicted in drug case
A Dhaka courtroom on Tuesday framed fees against Shamima Nur Papia and her partner Mofizur Rahman Sumon in a medication case.

Dhaka’s More 8th Metropolitan Sessions Judge Amirul Islam framed the costs and set March 1 when planning on taking testimony.

Previously February 22 this past year, Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) arrested Papia and her partner, along with two of their accomplices, from Hazrat Shahjalal AIRPORT TERMINAL with counterfeit banknotes, foreign currencies and cash.

RAB afterwards raided their two luxurious flats in capital’s Indira Road location and recovered a good foreign-manufactured pistol, two magazines, 20 bullets, five bottles of foreign liquor, Tk58.41 lakh in money, among other things.

Later, one case was filed with Sher-e-Bangla Nagar Law enforcement Station under Arms Action, one under Narcotics Act and another under Particular Powers Act.

On September 10, the investigating officer of Sher-e-Bangla Nagar police station filed a charge sheet against the Papia and other folks in the drug case.

Judge KM Imrul Kayesh of the Dhaka Metropolitan Classes Judge’s Courtroom on October 12 sentenced Papia and her partner to twenty years in prison found in the arms case.

The court also awarded them seven years jail under another portion of the Arms Act.
