4 separate cases filed against Erfan, his bodyguard
Four separate cases have already been filed against Erfan Salim, the suspended councilor of ward no 30 of Dhaka South City Corporation, and his bodyguard Md Zahid beneath the Arms Act and Narcotics Control Act.
Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) filed the cases with Chawkbazar Police Station in old Dhaka, OC Moudud Hawlader confirmed.
RAB Legal and Media Wing Director Lt Col Ashique Billah said they filed two cases beneath the Arms Act and Narcotics Control Act against Erfan, son of MP Haji Salim, and the another two against his bodyguard Zahid under the same act.
A team of the elite force detained Erfan from his father’s residence at Swarighat in city's old part on Monday night carrying out a case filed with Dhanmondi Police Station by Lieutenant Wasif Ahmed Khan of Bangladesh Navy for assaulting him.
A RAB's mobile court sentenced him and his bodyguard Zahid to 1 year in jail in two separate cases--one beneath the Arms Act and another under Narcotics Control Act.
Earlier, the mobile court in a raid seized two firearms, 38 walkie-talkies and liquor from the house.
