New taskforce to look into sources of terrorism funding
The government has constituted a new taskforce to strengthen the investigation and coordinate the terrorist funding sources.

Recently, the Cabinet Division has issued an order regarding the formation of the 22-member taskforce, headed by Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal.

Earlier, a taskforce, headed by Industries minister Amir Hossain Amu, was formed on August 20, 2014. When the new government was formed in January this year, the government canceled the previous taskforce and formed a new one.

Members of the taskforce are Minister of Finance, State Minister for Foreign Affairs, Governor of Bangladesh Bank, Secretary of the Department of Financial Institutions, Secretary of Foreign Affairs, Secretary of Public Security Department, Secretary of the Security Services Department, Secretary of Law and Justice Department.

The order noted that the additional secretary of the Public Safety Department (political and ICT) will be the member-secretary.

According to the order that the taskforce will take necessary steps to further strengthen the investigation activities for looking into the source terrorism financing and make these activities more coordinated. It will also formulate a recommendation to take effective action against the source of money for terrorism or the donor.

In addition, it will strengthen intensive intelligence surveillance against militant activities.

In addition, it will notify the appropriate authorities and collect, analyze, review and decide the relevant data to take legal action against any kind of mismanagement aimed at creating terrorism and social anarchy.
