Mother, daughter die in hours in Gazipur
A woman and her daughter have died within hours in Harinal Uttarpara area of the city.
The deceased were identified as Bakul Akhter, 55, wife of late Shahjahan Mia, and her daughter Akhi Akhtar, 28, an expatriate living in Jordan.
Quoting family members, officer-in-charge of Sadar Police Station Alamgir Bhuiyan said Akhi returned home from Jordan one week ago due to her illness.
As she fell ill on Tuesday night, her younger sister Lucky Akhter took her to hospital where doctors declared her dead
When she returned home with the body of her sister, Lucky found her mother, who was reportedly suffering from mental illness, lying dead on the bed.
On information, police recovered the bodies on Wednesday morning and sent those to Shaheed Tajuddin Ahmad Medical College Hospital for autopsy, the OC said, adding that reason behind their death could be known after getting the postmortem report.
