EC directs to withdraw Joydebpur OC
The Election Commission has directed to withdraw Gazipur's Joydebpur Police Station officer in-charge Md Asaduzzaman.
Gazipur police superitendent Shamsunnahar said they received a direction in this regard from EC on Wednesday night.
Abu Nasar Uddin, returning officer of Gazipur Sadar upazila election and additional deputy commissioner, said they received the direction around 8:00pm.
Abu Nasar said a letter was given from the Election Commission last night directing to withdraw OC Asaduzzaman soon and replace any other police official in his post.
Allegation was raised against OC Asaduzzaman of threatening incumbent upazila chairman BNP leader and independent candidate Izadur Rahman Milon pull out of race.
Regarding this, Izadur Rahman has recently applied to EC and police superintendent seeking withdrawal of the OC.
Election in Sadar upazila parishad, Gazipur is scheduled to be held on June 18.
