Truck driver, helper killed in Gazipur crash
The driver and helper of a truck were killed as the vehicle collided with a covered-van on Narayanganj-Tangail Highway (Asian Highway) in Kaliganj upazila of Gazipur Saturday (Feb 2) night.
The deceased couldn’t be identified immediately.
The accident happened around 9:45pm.
Naojore Highway Police Outpost Officer-in-Charge (OC) Ohiduzzaman told Banglanews that the driver died on the spot as the Tangail-bound truck collided face-to-face with a covered-van in Naotana area.
The helper of the truck was rescued with critical injuries.
He was taken to a hospital in Dhaka where he succumbed to injuries.
The driver of the covered-van fled the scene leaving the vehicle.
Legal action will be taken in this regard, added the OC.
